Grief in Christmas
Vores caféaften d. 13.12 har temaet Sorgen i Julen
Christmas is often called the festival of hearts – including heavy hearts, sad hearts, and grieving hearts. When you lose someone you love, the nature of Christmas can change dramatically. You’re reminded of those who are no longer there to celebrate with us. Old traditions might not work anymore, the sense of loss grows, and December can be difficult for many who have experienced loss.
How do you allow yourself to celebrate Christmas, reinvent the traditions, and where do you find the Christmas joy when the loss sometimes feels unbearable?
Come to Aliasoqatit and meet others who have lost and may carry some of the same thoughts and feelings as you. Here, there is room for everyone – even if you’re not in the Christmas spirit or if you just need to listen to others’ experiences.
Who Are We?
Volunteers who have themselves lost a loved one.
Who Are You?
You have felt grief closely and perhaps you’re looking for words to express your feelings, wishing to share thoughts about the one(s) you have lost with others – or perhaps you just need to be in a physical space with others who understand what it feels like to lose someone.
What Will Happen?
The evening will start with two volunteers sharing their stories about their experiences with Christmas after a loss. This will serve as inspiration for the subsequent discussion about grief during Christmas with the participants of the café evening.
How to Register?
You can register by sending an email to gronland@sorgcenter.dk with your name and the title “Café Evening in Nuuk on December 13th”.
