My Dear Daughter Died in the Water on September 2, 2022
How can I get over it? Right now, I’m losing a lot of my hair, I have many bald spots, and they keep getting bigger.
I grieve a lot; our dear daughter was 23 when she passed away. I have become very thin, I don’t feel like eating, I’ve started smoking a lot, and mostly drink coffee and water daily.
She was our only daughter, and the youngest, and that’s why I wanted so badly to keep her. I am having a very hard time.

Dear you,
Thank you so much for your post. It is really brave of you to write to the advice column.
What a sad story about your dear daughter. I am very sorry to read it.
It sounds like you and your daughter had a very special bond since she was your only daughter, and I get the impression that there was a lot of love between you. I can understand that everything feels overwhelming and extremely difficult. I have not experienced losing a child myself, but I know several people who have gone through the same experience and have shared how painful it is for the mind. When you are in a difficult life situation, it can be important to talk to someone about it.
If you live in Nuuk, I recommend attending the café evenings that we at Aliasoqatit organize. There, you will have the opportunity to meet other people who have also experienced loss. You can either just sit and listen, or you are welcome to share your own thoughts and experiences about losing someone. You can read more about them here: https://aliasoqatit.gl/da/cafeaftner/
Additionally, Aliasoqatit has a chat where you can write with one of the volunteers every Monday if you feel like it. You can read more about it on our website here: https://aliasoqatit.gl/aliasuuteqarnermi-tapersersoqatigiinneq/
I wish you all the best. You are welcome to write to the advice column again.
Best regards,
Aliasoqatit
